On May 26, 2017 the Ministry of Finance together with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and the Latvian Association of Commercial Banks will host a Baltic workshop on the new World Bank Group (WBG) Procurement Framework.
 
The workshop is an opportunity for private and public sector participants to meet the WBG Lead Procurement Expert Christopher Browne to receive information on the possibilities on how to bid in WBG financed projects, how to apply the procurement procedures, how to submit applications for participation in WBG procurement, and what makes a bid successful. Christopher Browne was Chief Procurement Officer of the World Bank, and was in charge of the Procurement reform program, which was the most important reform in World Bank procurement policy in the last 30 years.
 
The active WBG project portfolio is worth about $80 billion in total, with annual procurement circa $20 billion. The main areas where the WBG focused in 132 countries were transport (47%), water (18%) and energy and extractives (17%). Additionally, contracts were also financed in the areas of agriculture (5%), education (3%), health and social services (5%), industry and trade (1%), info and communication (1%), and public administration and law (3%).
 
We encourage you to participate in the workshop in order to facilitate the successful involvement of private and public sector participants in WBG procurement projects. This will also be a great opportunity to learn about the new WBG Procurement framework and to make bilateral contacts with the WBG Procurement Specialists.
 
The WBG workshop will take place on 26 May, from 11:00- 16:00, at the premises of the Latvian Association of Commercial Banks, address: 8A, Doma laukums, 4th floor.
