Šobrīd fotogrāfijas pasaulē atdzimusi interese par dažādām alternatīvām un pat šķietami arhaiskām attēlu radīšanas tehnoloģijām, kas tiek izmantotas jaunos veidos, lai izceltu un eksperimentētu ar attēlu materialitāti. Darbnīcā ar Somijas mākslinieci Hennu Tirvainenu dalībnieki apgūs 19. gadsimta cianotipiju tehniku. Izmantojot fotosensitīvu šķīdumu un UV gaismu, tiek radīts unikāls attēls Prūsijas zilā krāsā. Dalībnieki radīs fotogrammas no filmas negatīviem, kā arī ikdienas priekšmetiem (piemēram, augiem), otrajā dienā tos papildinot un apstrādājot ar dažādām dabiskas izcelsmes krāsām (piemēram, izmantojot tēju vai kafiju).
Darbnīcas vadītāja
Henna Tirvainena (Henna Tyrväinen, 1987) ir vizuāla māksliniece no Pori pilsētas, Somijā. Viņa strādā ar dažādām grafikas un drukas tehnikām, kā arī eksperimentālo fotogrāfiju un instalācijām. Viņa ir aktīva Somijas mākslinieku vadītās organizācijās NYTE un T.E.H.D.A.S, kas regulāri rīko dažādus andergraunda kultūras pasākumus un uztur galeriju “3H+K”. Tirvainenas minimālistiskie darbi bieži ir piepildīti ar trauslu melanholijas un ilgu sajūtu. Iepriekš vadījusi dažādas radošās darbnīcas, pievēršoties cianotipiju tehnikai. Šobrīd Henna uzturas Rīgā, kur ISSP Rīgas Rezidences ietvaros strādā pie jauniem darbiem.

Pieteikšanās līdz 17. oktobrim. Dalībnieku skaits ir ierobežots, tāpēc iesakām pieteikties laicīgi.

Cyanotype workshop

Lately there has been a renaissance of interest in various alternative and seemingly archaic techniques of creating images. Nowadays such techniques are used through innovative approaches to highlight and experiment with the physicality of images. Under the guidance of Finnish artist Henna Tyrväinen, the participants of the workshop will become familar with the 19th century cyanotype technique, in which a mildly photosensitive solution, negative and UV-light are used to create a unique Prussian blue image. The participants will use digital negatives or everyday objects (e.g. plants) to create photograms, on the second workshop day toning prints to brown or purple with natural toners like tea or coffee.
Workshop tutor
Henna Tyrväinen (1987) is a visual artist from Pori, Finland. She mostly works with graphic arts, experimental photography and installation art, often combining them. She is an active member in artist-run art associations NYTE and T.E.H.D.A.S. based in Pori. These associations organize and produce different underground cultural events (music, performance art, lectures etc.), run Gallery 3H+K, make own group exhibitions and other events. Tyrväinen's minimalistic works are often reflecting a mood of fragile melancholy and a sense of longing. Previously she has led various creative workshops that focus on the cyanotype technique. Currently the artist is working in Riga where she is developing new work as a part of the ISSP Riga Residency programme.

The workshop is open to photographers, artists and anyone interested in alternative photography processes. To apply for the workshop, please send a short description of yourself and your contact information to office@issp.lv (and mention Cyanotype workshop in the subject field).
Application deadline: October 17. The number of participants is limited, so please apply early.
