"Debate Leader School 2020/21" Application Form
Project "Debate Leader School 2020/2021" is an amazing educational project organized by the Latvian Debate Association "QUO Tu doma?" and supported by the British Council Latvia since 2016. More than 300 students and 100 teachers have already participated in the project. Will you be the next debate leader?

During the project participants get to participate in various lectures and practical workshops, starting with "What is debating and critical thinking?", "What is public speech?", "How to make a good argument?", ending with "Introduction to economics" and "Migration and globalisation".

Some of the lecturers that have participated in the project include Inga Spriņģe (Journalist, Co-Founder of the Re:Baltica), Morten Hansen (Head of Economics Department of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga), Andris Grafs (Vice President Latvia at the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance), Dr.Solvita Denisa Liepniece (Assistant Professor at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences), Konstantin Benyumov (Chief Editor at Meduza English), Mārtiņš Zemītis ( European Commission Representation in Riga), Oskars Priede (Public speaking trainer), Liene Gātere (Head of the Transparency International DELNA), Ernests Štāls (Co-founder and Board member of TechChill and TechHub Riga), all Co-Founders and Board Members of the Latvian Debate Association "QUO Tu doma?" and many more amazing professionals!

This year sessions will be brought to your region! The session will last for 1 day and on average each session will start at 11am and end around 4pm, therefore, if you live further away, you will be able to catch the last bus or train.

Model of the project: each school is represented at least by 1 teacher and 2 students, but we encourage that up to 6 pupils and up to 3 teachers per school apply. Working language of the project is English, therefore all participants should have sufficient English language level.

This form is to be filled by students and a teachers willing to apply for the project. All participants from one school can submit one motivation letter together. It is very important that all of the information is correct (e-mail address, phone number, name of the school, etc.), so please check you application form before submitting it!

The application form will close at 23:59 on October 9. It will not be possible to submit application after the deadline. Applicants that will be chosen to participate in the project will be informed until October 6, 2020 (latest), but we will start responding earlier to exceptional applications received, therefore you can secure your place in the project much faster by writing the best application ever! You might be contacted by organizers of the project for some follow-up questions regarding your application.
