Baltic circus and any physical performers are invited to participate in a masterclass in Riga during April 20-23, led by circus artist, director Jason Dupree, with the aim to introduce circus artists from Italy, Portugal, Latvia and Baltics with different approaches to creating circus performances.  The four day workshop will lead you through his areas of thought for creating work off stage. Arts FOR the space and not arts IN the space, immersion, intimate interactions and molding forms of Circus.
     
Jason Dupree is artistic director of Living Room Circus - an experimental & site specific circus company, is co-founder of Working Boys Club - creating interactive installations and performances, and co-founder of Formerly Known As - a digital performing arts collective.
Jason creates sensory surreal narratives that comment on human perception. His work finely balances between the tragic and the absurd, blending a multitude of art forms, such as Circus, Physical Theatre, Live Art and Dance. One of Jason’s main focuses is on changing the audience from a passive observer, to an active participant.

The masterclass is international, with approved participation of 6 Italian / Portuguese artists and also open to 6 Baltic artists.  The master class is organized by Rīgas cirks  in cooperation with Teatro necessario (Italy) and Bússola (Portugal).  Participation in the masterclass is free of charge, Baltic artists have to take care of their own travel and living expenses themselves.
